Musharraf’s Ghost II: PML-N — Rotten to the Core

As stated earlier, PML-N had found it’s minister guilty of misconduct but had decided to let it slide. It is now confirmed and Ch. Ghafoor is to be let off with a warning, instead of loosing his ministership and going to jail. The excuse used by Shehbaz? It’s all media’s fault.

Here is the latest news that surprised me some:

SC rejects appeal of ex-PML-N legislators
By our correspondent

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) on Monday rejected an appeal filed by the PML-N former legislators, seeking an interim relief in a review petition in the SC storming case and allowing them to contest the election from NA 55 Rawalpindi.

A five-member bench of the apex court, comprising Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani, Justice Nasirul Mulk, Justice Muhammad Moosa K Leghari, Justice Sheikh Hakim Ali and Justice Ghulam Rabbani, was hearing an appeal filed by Sardar Nasim and Chaudhry Tanvir.

They had filed an appeal in the Supreme Court seeking an interim relief in the review petition in the SC storming case for contesting election from NA 55 Rawalpindi. The apex court rejected their appeal, saying that they could not be provided interim relief on technical ground. The court directed them to first file an appeal with the returning officer (RO) in this regard. In 2000, the Supreme Court had convicted seven persons, including former MNAs Mian Munir Ahmed, Tariq Aziz and former provincial minister Akhtar Rasool, Shahbaz Goshi and three former MPAs Akhtar Mehmood, Sardar Muhammad Naseem and Chaudhry Tanvir Ahmad, on charges of contempt of court and ruled that they were unable to take part in the elections because of their conviction. After their conviction for storming the apex court, they had filed a review petition which is pending before the court.

What I find interesting is that does PML-N have no better people to run for the seat? You know and I know they are convicts — guilty of a major crime that I would say laid the foundation for Musharraf to take the Nov 3 steps. To think that a party cannot come up with better candidates is utterly shameful and speaks volumes about it’s culture.
